Woodturning 5 session course
Come and join us for this series of five woodturning sessions.
They will take place on 5 Tuesdays, starting from Tuesday 22nd April 2025. They will run from 6pm - 9pm, but ideally aim to arrive 15 minutes earlier to ensure a prompt start.
Over the five weeks, you will be introduced to and will gain a good understanding of working with an electric lathe.
We will explore spindle work and move on to turning small bowls and you will have a chance to work with seasoned and green wood. As your skills develop, a wider selection of forms will be within your ability, including:
bud vase
honey dipper
bowl
incense holder
candlestick
tealight holder
pestle and mortar
bigger bowls
We will work with native woods (elm, oak, beech, cherry), but if a more unusual one catches your eye these can be purchased from us at an additional cost.
Once you have completed the course, you will have access to the lathes through our membership and time bundle scheme, a great way to carry on turning. These are available to purchase via our shop (section of the website) or simply follow these links:

This course of workshops takes place at Creative Nature HQ, our South East London Studio.
Due to the nature of this workshop, please wear overalls/shirt you don’t mind getting dirty, and avoid loose clothes or hanging accessories. Bring a hair tie if you have longer hair!
No open -toed shoes. Aim to arrive 15 minutes early to ensure a prompt start.
Please note that this workshop will only take place if the required minimum number of participants is reached. You will be notified one week before the date of the workshop if it needs to be rescheduled. Alternative dates will be offered, but no refunds. Thank you for your support.
Creative Nature HQ is located in Thames-Side Studios, a 7.5 acre site of some 500 studios, situated by the river Thames, near Woolwich in the Borough of Greenwich.

There is plenty of free parking once you enter the site through the security gates which will be lifted for you. You can park either side. Creative Nature HQ is on the right hand side, just past the security hut. We are next to the Ethiopian cafe.The studio is a large workspace that often has its front doors wide open. Please come appropriately dressed for the weather
